Now in its fourth year, our annual giveback campaign is back to help support our communities and planet. This year, we partnered with American Forests to raise $25,000 for their Tree Equity Program.

OUR PARTNER
For our 2023 giveback campaign, we’re partnering with American Forests to raise $25,000 for their Tree Equity program. This program works to address the inequality of tree cover in neighborhoods across our country’s largest urban cities, such as Baltimore, Detroit, Boston, and Chicago.
Our contribution will go directly toward planting and caring for urban forests, implementing science-based plans that relate to planting trees and taking care of the trees we already have, as well as advocating for local policies and programs that bring those plans to life.

A map of tree cover in America’s cities is too often a map of income and race. That’s because, due to decades of redlining and other discriminatory policies, trees are often sparse in neighborhoods with more low-income families and people of color. Studies show that the neighborhoods that were redlined have fewer trees, preventing the people living there from reaping the benefits trees provide.
Trees in cities provide health, employment and climate resiliency benefits that everyone should have. They help fulfill our basic needs, such as breathing fresh air and drinking clean water. Trees also cool neighborhoods, which reduces heat-related illnesses and utility costs, and generate wealth by creating tree-related career opportunities. Much like buildings, streets and sewer lines, trees are critical infrastructure that improve our quality of life.

American Forests fosters Tree Equity by aiding communities in planning, policymaking, and financing urban tree growth. They collaborate with stakeholders, guiding them to set Tree Equity goals and safeguard existing trees while planting in critical areas. Initiatives include providing workforce development and career pathways, working with municipalities to secure city-wide Tree Equity pledges, and establishing partnerships to amplify the importance of trees for climate, health, and economies.
