Important Safety Information – Voluntary Recall

We are conducting a voluntary recall of Ergonomic Chairs, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The recalled chairs were manufactured between September 2025 and April 2026 and may have backrest anchors that were incorrectly installed at the time of manufacture. If the backrest anchor that connects your chair backrest to your chair mechanism was not properly installed, the backrests of the chairs can detach, posing a fall hazard.

FAQs

Why is Branch conducting this voluntary recall?

We are conducting this voluntary recall because we identified a concern in the seatback where the inserted anchor threads can come loose and detach, posing a fall hazard. Our goal is to try to ensure that every affected unit is repaired, so you can continue to safely use your chair.

Is this an official CPSC recall?

Yes. This recall is being voluntarily conducted by Branch in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

How do I know this communication is legitimate and not a scam?

How can I tell if my chair is affected by the recall?

First, check the label on the underside of your chair seat to confirm the country of origin and manufacturing date. Flip your chair over and remove the backrest from the base of the chair to reveal the three backrest anchors on the chairback. Refer to the images and directions provided above to confirm if your chair is affected. If you are unsure, email a photo of your chair base to customersupport@branchfurniture.com, and we will confirm for you.

How do I contact Branch about the recall?

You can reach us by email at customersupport@branchfurniture.com

What is the step-by-step recall process?
  1. Look for your product information, the country of origin and the manufacturing date on the label on the underside of your chair seat.
  2. Compare your chair back to the images on this page to confirm it is affected.
  3. If you believe your chair could be affected, please submit your product information via our online form by visiting this link
  4. If unsure, email a photo to customersupport@branchfurniture.com, or schedule a video call with a Branch representative, and we are happy to confirm.
  5. Once a Branch representative confirms via email if your chair is impacted, we are instructing you to render your chair‘s backrest mesh unusable by cutting it.
  6. Sign the disposal waiver confirming you will dispose of the recalled backrest and not reuse, sell, or give it to another person.
  7. Based on the address provided, we will ship you a new backrest for your chair.
What if I can’t find the manufacturing date on my chair?

The manufacturing date is not required to determine if your chair is affected. Please follow the steps in the Notice (Step 2). On a clean, flat surface, turn your chair upside down and locate the three Backrest Screws connecting the Backrest to the Mechanism. Using an Allen Key (5mm), remove the Backrest Screws (x3), spring washers, and flat washers to release the Backrest from the chair. From there, you can inspect the backrest anchors to confirm if your chair is affected.

What if my chair label does not have a manufacturing country of origin or manufacturing date listed?

Please skip to Step 2 above, referencing the steps noted above to identify if your chair has been affected.

My chair appears to be fine. Can I continue to use it?

No. Please stop use and follow the steps in this guide to check whether your chair is affected. If your chair is not recalled you can continue to use it.

I purchased my chair through a third-party retailer (Amazon, Wayfair, etc.). Am I still eligible?

Yes. Regardless of where you purchased your chair, you are eligible to participate in the recall. Please contact us directly at customersupport@branchfurniture.com, and we will guide you through the process.

I received my chair as a gift and don't know where it was purchased. Can I still participate?

Yes. You do not need to know the original purchase location or have a receipt to participate. We verify affected chairs by reviewing a photo of the chair base.

I no longer have my receipt. Can I still participate?

Yes. A receipt or original order number is not required to participate in the recall.

How do I send my photo — email, text, or both?

We will be asking all participants to complete this online submission form. You can send your photo by email to customersupport@branchfurniture.com, or share it with us during a scheduled video call.

Why do I need to damage the chair by cutting the chair back?

Cutting the chair back ensures that the item won't be picked up and reused by someone else after disposal.

I need help disposing of the chair seatback. What are my options?

Most local curbside bulk waste will accept your chair back. Large item pickup services will also accept furniture. We recommend checking with your local municipality for large item disposal options. Branch will not be supporting the disposal of parts.

What do I do with the chair after the recall?

After a Branch representative confirms your chair is affected, a replacement chair backrest will be sent to you. The original backrest needs to be rendered unusable by cutting the seatback mesh, and then disposed of and not reused, sold, or given to another person.

I have multiple affected chairs. Do I need to submit a separate request for each one?

Please contact us at customersupport@branchfurniture.com and we will guide you through the process for multiple chairs.

Can I get a replacement chair instead of a replacement seatback?

At this time, we are offering replacement backrests.

Will I receive a full refund?

We are not providing refunds, but we’re happy to send you a free backrest replacement.
